The statistics are overwhelming: literally hundreds of thousands of children are orphaned. These children are waiting for homes. Some wait due to CPS intervention in which parental rights were terminated to insure the child’s safety, others wait due to overwhelming poverty in their country. Regardless of the reason, they wait ~ hoping that someone will open their home and heart to them.
The second annual San Antonio Adoption Fair will host agencies from across the nation on Saturday, January 26th from 1-5p.m. at Northern Hills Church. This fair is being held to help children like those mentioned above, as well as to assist potential parents as they begin the process of adoption. Information on domestic, international and foster adoption will be available; along with information from various support groups and adoption service organizations. An adoptive families panel (parents, children and adult adoptees) will be available to discuss their adoption experiences and answer questions guests may have. Guest speakers will highlight topics on legal rights, the homestudy process, the different types of adoptions and other adoption related topics. Heart Gallery portrays displaying foster children who are legally available for adoption will also be on exhibit.
This free event is hosted by Amanda Way of Adoption Priorities, Inc. & Michelle Schultze of C.H.O.S.E.N. Adoption and Foster Ministry, Inc. Amanda and her husband are the adoptive parents of two children from Russia. Michelle and her husband are the adoptive parents of four children: 1 private adoption (Caucasian), 1 international adoption (China) and two siblings (Hispanic) adopted from the San Antonio foster care system. Both families have experienced the joy that adoption brings. It is their combined desire and mission to assist others who are simply seeking adoption information, or who are seriously considering changing the life of a child forever.
